People Helping People is very pleased to announce that Bob Murray owner of the Café Escadrille will be hosting the Fourth Annual Wine Tasting and Charity Auction with all proceeds going to support People Helping People

The event will be held at the Café Escadrille on Sunday, March 8 from 2-5 p.m. There will be wine tasting, gourmet appetizers, live auctions and silent auctions. All this for just $40.00. This year there will be only 200 tickets sold!

Anyone who attended previous year’s events will remember that as you entered the Escadrille you were greeted with a “Glass of Champagne or Wine”. Then you entered the ballroom and the appetizers were numerous and exquisite!

The Auction Items this year promise to be unique with dinners from many of the local restaurants in Burlington, Hopper Pass to Disney in FLA, a weekend at the Queen Mary in CA and a number of resort Caribbean vacations to such destinations as Saint Lucia, Barbados, and Antigua. People Helping People is the umbrella organization for the Burlington Food Pantry, the Holiday Program & Wish Tree and the Covenant for Basic Needs. These three non-profit and volunteer-supported organizations are striving to meet the basic necessities of Burlington residents who have been hit hardest by the economic downturn.

In 2014 the Food Pantry distributed over 100,000 pounds of food to families in Burlington. An average of 349 people pass through the pantry each month. 57 new families started to receive resources from the Pantry in 2014. This past December the Wish Tree gave over 2,000 gifts to children in the community of Burlington. In November over 180 families in town were provided the fixings for Thanksgiving dinners.

The money raised at this event will help us continue to meet these needs in 2015. We are extremely grateful to Bob Murray for his continued generosity to People Helping People. Bob is always reaching out to our organization to assist! When we thanked Bob last year for his generosity – his response was “Let’s make this an annual event”.

Tickets can be purchased through Janet Sullivan Fitzgerald, 6 Rita Ave., sullivanfh@comcast.net (781) 244-9591, Dan DiTucci Spencer Cleaners 271 Cambridge St., & 240 Middlesex Turnpike or John Belmonte at A Whole Bunch of Flowers 326 Cambridge St., Burlington

We are hoping that this will continue to be a real community event with many residents and organizations in the town supporting our major fundraiser. Please consider attending. Remember only 200 tickets will be sold this year!
