After someone suspected of stabbing a man in Cambridge was believed to be barricaded in a home near Thorndike and Sciarappa streets, police closed off nearby streets and asked residents to avoid the area. Negotiators and tactical officers were called to the on scene, according to police.
"Residents are asked to avoid the immediate area as officers attempt to communicate with the suspect and peacefully deescalate and resolve the situation," police said in a statement.
Just after 6 p.m. police were called to the area for a report of a stabbing and found a man had escaped a home and was suffering what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries. Police said he was transported to a hospital.
Police said they learned that the man suspected of stabbing the other was inside the hom and may have access to a firearm. Police called tactical officers and out of abundance of caution, police said they closed the streets in the immediate area.
