Bank of America Employees Run the 130th Boston Marathon with Purpose

As the 130th Boston Marathon takes over the streets on April 20, six Bank of America employees aren’t just chasing finish lines—they’re running for causes deeply personal to them, turning every mile into impact.

Blair Batson, 39, of Cambridge, a Senior Vice President of Net Zero Strategy at Bank of America, is running his first Boston Marathon - his second overall. A native of Calgary, Alberta, he is running to benefit the Canadian Liver Foundation (www.liver.ca). His father died of a rare liver disease in 2024 and now his brother is living with the same condition.

“I’m a lifelong runner (former collegiate sprinter for McGill University) and always had a marathon on my bucket list once I retired from high-level competition. Obviously, the Boston Marathon is the greatest marathon out there and although the competitive athlete in me feels a bit bad about getting to run it without making the qualifying time, the little kid in me that just loves running couldn’t say no to the opportunity.”

From Needham, Doug Marshall is racing for a mission he built himself—co-founding New Life Furniture Bank of Massachusetts, which provides essential home furnishings to families in need.

In Arlington, Alex Cucchi is running in honor of his brother, supporting Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism and raising awareness for families navigating autism.

For Renee Lammi of Lynnfield, an immigrant from Brazil 28 years ago, the race is about giving back—she’s running for Make-A-Wish Foundation, fueled by her passion for helping children.

Jack Germain of Boston is tackling the course to support families facing housing instability through FamilyAid Boston.

And rounding out the team, Alex Castillo of Newport, Rhode Island, joins this inspiring group representing dedication, resilience, and community impact.

Together, these six runners showcase how Boston Marathon athletes are going beyond personal achievement—using one of the world’s most iconic races to drive awareness, honor loved ones, and uplift communities across New England and beyond.
