A four session workshop that will introduce students to the art and science of editing through Adobe Premiere Pro, the editing software considered the gold standard by independent filmmakers everywhere. September 8, 15, 22, and 29.

Description:

No matter what type of video you want to make, editing is key. Being able to edit is an incredible skill to have, and in this class, you will learn the art and science of editing through Adobe Premiere Pro, the editing software considered the gold standard by independent filmmakers everywhere. By the end of the course, you will be able to cut and sequence footage to tell the story you want, and alter its aesthetic to create the look and sound you desire for your project. You’ll also learn to manage and organize files to ensure a smooth workflow every time. No experience is necessary and beginners are welcomed, as is anyone with experience in other editing software who would like to transfer their skills to Adobe Premiere Pro!

  • Week 1: Learning the layout of the interface, how to create and open a project, import footage and access it on the timeline, organization of material
  • Week 2: Cutting and extending clips, dissolves and transitions, adding audio, workflow
  • Week 3: Color correction, audio mixing, captions, graphics, exporting
  • Week 4: Bringing it all together/Final Project

About the Instructor:

Rory Liddy is an award-winning filmmaker, educator, and entrepreneur. He is a native of Cambridge, MA, though he has spent a little bit of time everywhere else as well. With a passion for all things media, he has created his own projects, as well as producing for other artists, TV stations, studios, etc. He single-handedly directed, shot, and edited his most recent documentary, Auraganic (2025), which was nominated for Best Documentary at 6 film festivals, and is currently in distribution with major streaming platforms. He loves to share his knowledge with others, and strongly believes that media literacy is one of the major keys to success in today’s world.
