Cambridge Fire: 4-Alarm Blaze Displaces About 60
Three buildings were damaged in the overnight fire.

CAMBRIDGE, MA – A four-alarm fire broke out in Cambridge overnight, damaging multiple buildings and displacing about 60, the Cambridge Fire Department said. The blaze was first reported around 1 a.m. in the area of 171 Auburn St. The blaze was under control roughly two hours later.
The Red Cross said shortly before 10 a.m. that 13 residents (four households) are in need of emergency assistance following the fire.
Fire officials credited an "aggressive attack" by responding fire crews with quickly knocking down the fire. All occupants of the impacted buildings were evacuated; no injuries were reported.

Cambridge Acting Fire Chief Gerard Mahoney said one firefighter was taken to an area hospital with a shoulder injury. He is expected to be OK.
Mahoney said a total of five families were displaced by the fire. Two family cats remain missing.

Three buildings were damaged in the fire: 22-24 Magazine St., 170-172 Auburn St. and 166-168 Auburn St.
Fire crews from Somerville, Boston, Belmont, Brookline, Watertown, Arlington, Waltham and Newton responded to the scene.
