CAMBRIDGE, MA — Police arrested two people they say nearly struck an officer with a car near the Galleria Mall early Wednesday evening after they allegedly stole some clothing and were attempting a getaway. Police said the driver sped off after the close call, and the occupation then took off on foot.
There was a heavy police presence in the area, including a State Police helicopter as they searched for the two around 5: 29 p.m.
Police said Tiara Hunter, 23, of Dorchester, and Dominic Walker, 23, of Roxbury, will be charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (the car) and are expected to be arraigned Thursday morning in Cambridge District Court.

Hunter allegedly took merchandise valued under $1,200 from a clothing store in the Galleria. Detail officers in the mall attempted to stop them, but she and Walker allegedly ran from the area, entered a parked white KIA operated by Walker and then attempted to drive in the direction of a responding officer. The vehicle’s driver side mirror "made contact" with the officer’s arm.
The vehicle then sped onto First Street and then Hurley Street.
