From the Colombian Pacific to Harvard Square: Latin Grammy Nominee Nidia Góngora to Perform at Passim
Traditional Rhythms Meet Global Stages as Acclaimed Teaching Artist Brings the Spirit of Timbiquí to Cambridge This Monday

The vibrant, UNESCO-recognized sounds of the Colombian Pacific are coming to the heart of Harvard Square. On Monday, April 6, legendary singer and researcher Nidia Góngora will take the stage at Club Passim, offering local audiences a rare glimpse into the rich musical heritage of her native Timbiquí.
Góngora, a Latin Grammy nominee and a primary researcher of traditional Southern Colombian Pacific music, arrives in Cambridge amidst a high-profile U.S. tour. Her recent stops have included sold-out performances in Philadelphia and major appearances at the Chicago World Music Festival. Later this month, she is slated to bring her ensemble to the 2026 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
A Bridge Between Traditions
For over 20 years, Góngora has acted as a cultural bridge, blending the traditional rhythms of the marimba and percussion with global genres. Her work has earned her features in The New York Times and The Guardian, as well as recent collaborations with reggaetón star Feid.
