Good news for the fitness enthusiast who never likes to miss a workout while traveling.
Cambridge-based Kimpton Marlowe Hotel and Hydrowhave partnered together to offer guests one of the best full-body workouts they can conquer in a hotel. The Hydrow rower is now available to guests staying at Kimpton Marlowe Hotel, free of charge. The hotel has created a dedicated, safe and socially-distant Hydrow suite* in one of its meeting rooms, permitting guests to row on their own or with a workout partner. Guests are invited to use these state-of-the-art Hydrow rowing machines which use Live Outdoor Reality (LOR)™ technology. The Hydrow delivers dynamic on-water rowing workouts led by world-class athletes, streamed live and on-demand from waterways around the world, like the Thames River, Loch Ness, San Francisco Bay, and, of course, the Charles River right here in Cambridge and Boston. With Hydrow’s immersive experiences, the world becomes your own private rowing studio from within Kimpton Marlowe Hotel.
“We’re delighted to be able to collaborate with the Kimpton Marlowe Hotel to bring the Hydrow experience to their guests,” says Nancy Dussault Smith, Hydrow’s Chief Marketing Officer. Inc. “As a fellow Cambridge-based organization, it’s especially exciting to know guests will not only be able to get in a fantastic, efficient workout, but also have the unique opportunity to explore and take in our city from our favorite vantage point — directly from the Charles River itself.”
Joe Capalbo, Regional Director of Operations for Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants of New England and General Manager of Kimpton Marlowe Hotel, says, “While travel can be an excuse for some guests to skip their workouts, Kimpton Marlowe and Hydrow are making it easy for our guests to remain fully committed to their fitness routine by offering them these state-of-the-art rowers. Kimpton Marlowe has long been committed to offering innovate fitness programs and amenities for our guests. In addition to the bikes, kayaks, paddle boards, and in-room yoga and HIIT workouts we already offer, Hydrow will further help our guests achieve a whole new level of wellness while traveling. We know this exciting new partnership will be embraced by our fitness conscious guests.”
According to Hydrow, rowing is both a cardio and strength training workout that engages 86% of the body’s muscles including the core, back, arms and legs. That’s nearly double the muscles one uses for cycling and running which means you’re getting as good of a workout in just half the time. It’s also a low-impact activity that reduces joint stress and actively improves bone density, making it an ideal fitness option for hotel guests and athletes of all ages and fitness levels. Guests can further complement their rowing workout with On The Mat sessions, with everything from yoga and pilates, to dynamic stretching and targeted strength training. “Hydrow is really an easy, one-stop workout for Kimpton Marlowe guests of all fitness levels,” adds Capalbo.
*Suite is subject to meeting room availability and Hydrow machines are placed more than 6ft apart to ensure social distancing at all times. Bottled water and towels are also placed in the Hydrow suite for guest use. For more information and hotel reservations, visit www.hotelmarlowe.com.
