Teen Jumps Out Of Moving Truck, Hops Fence: Cambridge PD Arrests

Cambridge Police were investigating gunshots in the area when they allegedly saw this happen.

CAMBRIDGE, MA — A 16-year-old boy jumped out of a moving truck and then hopped a fence as he was trying to get away from Cambridge Police who were in the area investigating a possible shooting.

He was later arrested.

Just after 1:45 a.m. someone called Cambridge Police to report multiple gunshots near Henry Street and Putnam Avenue. Nearby Cambridge Police Officers showed up and noticed a truck speeding down Putnam Avenue. Officers started to turn their cruiser around and said they saw the truck slow down, the driver jump out and the hop over a fence.

The truck ended up crashing into a parked car, which caused minor damage.

Officers chased the driver, but caught up to him and arrested him.

Police said the teen admitted to shooting off a BB gun with a friend. Officers canvassing the area found a loaded BB gun, a walkie talkie, and some torn clothing according to police.

The teen was charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, reckless operation, violating marked lanes, failing to stop, leaving the scene of an accident, use of a motor vehicle without authority and receiving a stolen motor vehicle, police say, adding their investigation is continuing.
