Pembroke Woman Arrested In Fatal Hit And Run In Cambridge

An 80-year-old run was killed in a hit and run in Cambridge on Thursday.

CAMBRIDGE, MA—A Pembroke woman has been charged in connection with a fatal hit and run in Cambridge that killed an elderly woman.

Ashley Monturio, 41, of Pembroke has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing death in connection with Thursday’s fatal hit and run that occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. in the area of 150 Erie Street in Cambridge, announced Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Cambridge Police Commissioner Branville G. Bard, Jr.

On Thursday at approximately 12:30 p.m. Cambridge Police responded the area of 150 Erie Street in Cambridge for the report that an elderly woman, identified as Romelia Gallardo, 80, of Cambridge, was injured and on the ground in the side parking lot at the Cambridge Housing Authority building.

The victim, who lived at the Housing Authority, had been pushing a wheeled walker when she was struck by the vehicle, a white Infiniti QX 60 SUV allegedly being operated by Monturio. She was transported to Cambridge Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Monturio was placed under arrest at the Cambridge Police Station and will be arraigned Friday in Cambridge District Court.
