The following information came from various courts in Norfolk County. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction unless otherwise stated.

Braintree

Larceny charge to be dismissed if court costs paid, or community service done

Joseph V. Boucher, 29, of 302 Haward St., Braintree had a charge of larceny over $250 by single scheme dismissed in Quincy District Court upon payment of $150 in court costs or 15 hours of community work service served.

The charge stems from a July 19, 2010 incident in Braintree. Police said the president of EST Associates went to the police station to report that a "substantial larceny" involving an employee had occurred. The victim alleged Boucher had racked up $8,606 in fraudulent purchases using a company-issued credit card/gas card.

Case of woman charged with OUI continued without a guilty finding

Karen M. Duncanson, 46, of 637 Pleasant St., South Weymouth had a charge of operating under the influence of alcohol continued without a finding of guilty to Oct. 23, 2012 in Quincy District Court.

The charge stems from a Aug. 19 incident in Braintree at 9:54 p.m. when police observed a black Honda operating in an erratic manner on Commercial Street. Police stopped the vehicle on Quincy Street and detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle. Duncanson allegedly told police she had consumed two beers previously. Police administered field sobriety tests after which they arrested Duncanson, who allegedly had a blood alcohol content of .17.

Florida man accused of trying to return stolen jacket at store dismissed with restitution to be paid

Andrey V. Kurepin, 48, of 1101 NE 18th St., Apt. 7, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., had a charge of larceny over $250 dismissed upon payment of $350 in court costs and $650 in restitution to the victim. A second charge of receiving stolen property over $250 was also dismissed in Quincy District Court.

The charges stem from a July 15 incident in Braintreet at 6:30 p.m. when police responded to Lord and Taylor at the South Shore Plaza. Kurepin was being detained by loss prevention after he allegedly tried to return a stolen high-end jacket in exchange for store credit. Murekin has no sales receipt, and claimed he purchased the jacket on the street.

Medford woman accused of stealing from gym lockers continued without a guilty finding

Krista Najarian, 25, of 28 Woodrow Ave., Medford had charges of larceny from a building a building dismissed in Quincy District Court without a guilty finding to Oct. 23, 2012. A second charge of conspiracy was dismissed at the request of the prosecution.

The charges stem from a May 10, 2010 incident in Braintree at 6:36 p.m. when police responded to reports of personal items stolen from
lockers at Fusion Sports Club. Items reported stolen included a wallet, Blackberry Curve cell phone, and a credit card with which $237.38 in fraudulent purchases were allegedly made at Rite Aid in Braintree.

Braintree man accused of going berserk on police gets suspended two-year sentences

Joseph M. Parmenter, 50, of 38 Williams St., Braintree was sentenced to concurrent suspended two-year terms in the Norfolk County House of Correction after being found guilt by a Quincy District Court jury on six counts of assault and battery on a police officer, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest, and vandalism of property.

The charges stem from a Aug. 21, 2010 incident in Braintreet at 2:32 a.m. when police responded to a fight in progress at 38 Williams St. There, they found Parmenter screaming at a person inside the house as he walked back into the residence. Police ordered Parmenter to show his hands as he stood in a doorway. "Let me put my gun down," he told police, according to the incident report. An officer reached for his service weapon. Parmenter then kicked the door open, which went "smashing" into the officer. Parmenter then attempted to rush the officer and a "highly combative" struggle ensued. Parmenter continued to kick and struggle as finally subdued him with pepper spray and arrested him.

Alleged three-time shoplifter ordered back in court in November

Stephan A. Santarpio, 24, of 81 Rockway Ave., Apt. 312, Weymouth had a charge of third-offense shoplifting by concealing merchandise continued to Nov. 11 for a pretrial conference in Quincy District Court.

The charge stems from a Oct. 14 incident in Braintree at 1 p.m. when police responded to a report of a shoplifter at Kmart, 350 Grossman Drive. Loss prevention officers pointed police to Santarpio, who allegedly was in the back of a van and possibly armed with a knife. Police ordered Santarpio to show his hands, then handcuffed and frisked him. Lying on the floor of the van was a fishing knife with a 4-inch blade. Store detectives said the knife belonged to the store. Other stolen items from the store include a red T-shirt and an MP3 player. Store detectives said Santarpio also destroyed some items inside the store.

Canton

Second-offense OUI case to go to trial in December

Nazariy Smaga, 19, of 95 Lawrence St., Canton had charges of second-offense operating under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and a marked lanes violation continued to Dec. 6 for a trial by judge in Stoughton District Court.

The charges stem from a July 16 incident on North Main Street in Sharon at 3:13 a.m. when police observed a green Maxima being operated in an erratic manner, weaving and crossing over the median lane. Police stopped the vehicle, which had three female passengers including the driver, Smaga, who appeared extremely nervous. Police reported an odor of alcohol on Smaga's breath. A passenger said he was the driver because her friend was too drunk to drive, although the passenger said Smaga should not have been operating the vehicle.

Smaga refused field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. He is also facing a drunken driving charge in Stoughton stemming from an Oct. 14, 2010 incident at 10:25 p.m. when police in that town found a car had crashed into a tree on Bay Road. Two people were seen running from the vehicle. As the vehicle was being towed away, they returned to the crash scene. Police identified Smaga as the operator of the vehicle and arrested him. He later had a chemical breath test of .067 percent blood alcohol.

Alleged third-offense shoplifter's case continued to December

Dennis Arruda, 36, of 210 Chemung Road, Stoughton had a charge of third-offense shoplifting by aspiration continued to Dec. 6 for a pretrial hearing in Stoughton District Court.

The charge stems from a July 23 offense in Canton at 3:23 p.m. when police responded to a report of a shoplifter at Shaw's Supermarket. Police spoke with a loss prevention officer, who allegedly observed Arruda in the self-checkout lane scan two packages of ground beef, then placed the items at a nearby ice cream freezer and replaced the with a package of tenderloin steak, value $25.61.

Braintree man gets pretrial probation for sniffing dust-off

Stephen V. Tesoro, 24, of 3 Parkside Circle, Braintree, was given a sentence of pretrial probation until April 25, 2012 by a Stoughton District Court judge on a charge of inhaling glue/toxic substance.

The charge stems from an June 10 incident in Canton at 9:30 p.m. when police responded to reports of a man yelling inside his car in the CVS parking lot and that he appeared to be "tripping." One caller reported Tesoro allegedly was smelling something in his car. Upon arrival police observed Tesoro in his red car with his head rolling from side to side, apparently intoxicated. Tesoro then began to inhale from a can of Dust-off, an act commonly referred to as "huffing." Police then arrested him.

Assault and battery case to go to trial in December

Alfred W. Martell Jr., 44, of 1 Farm St., Canton had a charge of assault and battery continued to Dec. 5 for a trial by judge in Stoughton District Court.

The charge stems from a Sept. 27 incident in Canton at 5 p.m. when police responded to Martell's address for a report of a dispute in progress. A relative said Martell was being belligerent and tried to resolve the dispute, which
escalated into physical assault when Martell allegedly slapped his wife on the side of the head while verbally "berating" her.

Case of man who allegedly hid cocaine in his boxer shorts continued to Dec. 6

Louis Smith, 43, of 295 Blueledge Drive, Roslindale had charges of possession of a Class B substance and operating after license suspension continued to Dec. 6 for a pretrial motion in Stoughton District Court.

The charge stems from a Jan. 3 incident in Canton at 11:20 p.m. when Milton State Police at 11:20 p.m. observed a vehicle being driven with an obstructed rear license plate on Route 138. Police determined Smith's license had been suspended and arrested him. As he was being booked at the police station, a packet containing a white powder fell from the waistband of Smith's boxer shorts. "It's just some powder," he allegedly told police. Police said the powder was consistent with cocaine.

Milton

Case of breaking and entering continued to January

Alexander Andrade, 22, of 31 Burman St., Mattapan had a charge of daytime breaking and entering continued to Jan. 4 for a pretrial conference in Quincy District Court.

The charge stems from a May 4 incident in Milton at 12:10 p.m. when police observed two suspicious looking men on the sidewalk in front of 86 Blue Hills Parkway. They appeared nervous. Police then received a report of a
burglar alarm at 84 Blue Hills Parkway and determined entry may have been made through a window and that several items in the residence had been knocked over. Police located the two men just over the Milton line. Both men denied having been in Milton, but the accomplice later told police that he was asked to be a "lookout" but did not know what Andrade had planned to do.

Quincy man loses driver's license for 45-days on OUI charge

Son V. Nguyen, 52, of 75 Miller St., Quincy had charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol continued without a finding of guilty to Oct. 22, 2012 in Quincy District Court and was issued a 45-day loss of license. Nguyen was found not responsible for a marked lanes violation.

The charges stem from a June 20 incident in Milton at 1:30 a.m. when State Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on Route 93 southbound near Exit 11A. Police found that a Ford Explorer had crashed into a concrete barrier on the right shoulder of the travel lane prior to the crash scene. Officers detected a strong odor of alcohol on Nguyen's breath. He told police that he had consumed a "couple of beers. Police administered field sobriety tests, after which they arrested Nguyen on suspicion of drunken driving.

Case of assault and battery against brother continued to December

Wesley Cannatella, 19, of 65 Avalon Road, Milton had charges of assault and battery and vandalism of property continued to Dec. 22 for a pretrial conference in Quincy District Court.

The charges stem from an Aug. 3 incident in Milton at 10:40 p.m. when police responded to a report of a loud argument at 65 Avalon Road. There, they found Cannatella's distraught brother, who claimed to have found a package of hypodermic needles in Cannatella's room. Cannatella confronted his brother over the discovery, enraged, police said. He began to push his brother repeatedly, then grabbed a doorknob and began to smash the door into a wall, causing two holes. He then allegedly put his brother in a headlock. As the two struggled, the brother managed to escape downstairs. Cannetella told police that he caught his brother going through his belongings but there was no physical altercation.
