UPDATE: Second Canton Resident Killed by Tree Branch

The 48-year-old male was transported to Boston Medical Center Friday night.

CANTON, MA - A local man has died after getting hit by a falling tree branch in his backyard.

At around 11 p.m. Friday night, fire crews in Canton responded to a call about smoke at a Longmeadow Drive home, according to WHDH.

While at the scene, crews were alerted to a 48-year-old man who was struck by a falling tree limb.

The man was transported to Boston Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead Saturday night. Police originally said the man died Saturday morning before noting that they received an incorrect update. At 6 p.m. Saturday, Canton Police Chief Ken Berkowitz announced the death.

This is the second tree-related fatality in Canton in less than 24 hours. Friday, 6-year-old Kayleigh Kenyon passed away after she was pinned by a falling branch at her home.
