
After a year in which Charlestown saw its , town crime has gotten off to a slower start in 2012.
Boston Police released neighborhood-by-neighborhood crime data for Jan. 1-22 this week, along with data for the same period during 2011. The chart, available here, shows that Charlestown has so far seen 13 percent less crime in 2012 when compared to 2011.
Boston Police logged a total of 14 Charlestown crimes for those three weeks in 2012, compared to 16 logged during the same stretch in 2011.

Aggravated assaults declined from two to one, burglaries and burglary attempts dropped from two to zero and vehicle theft dropped from four to one.
Meanwhile, robbery and attempted robbery ticked up from two incidents to three and larceny and attempted larceny increased from six to nine.

Citywide, Boston has seen an overall nine percent drop for the beginning of the year—though individual neighborhoods have seen widely varying results.
District D-14 (Allston and Brighton) saw crime fall off by 39 percent, from 83 incident to 51, while district E-5 (West Roxbury/Roslindale) saw a 64 percent increase from 33 incidents to 54.
