Allston Man Indicted on Charlestown Crack Charge
Arrest involved high-speed chase, attempted escape.
An Allston man arrested in Charlestown earlier this year has been formally indicted on charges of resisting arrest and possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute.
According to court documents, United States Park Ranger Patrick Seeley saw Joseph J. Kennedy, 26, of 70 Adamson Street in Allston, driving without a seatbelt near the monument on Feb. 8.
After seeing the offense, the park ranger told the court that he turned on his lights and followed Kennedy, who began to flee at a high rate of speed.

“The vehicle began to take a number of turns, accelerate its speed to over 50 miles per hour, and eventually come to a stop on Medford Street,” the ranger said.
When the vehicle stopped, Kennedy fled into the housing project. The ranger, along with a National Park Service officer, chased Kennedy and eventually caught him around 124 Old Ironsides Way.

After the arrest, officers searched Kennedy and found 12 small baggies of a substance that later tested positive as crack cocaine, as well as a red container of white substance, a 3.5 inch folding knife and $1,195 in cash.
The arresting officers called emergency medical services after Kennedy appeared to be unstable, the report said. While waiting for EMS to arrive, Kennedy attempted to flee, but was again stopped.
