Battle of Bunker Hill Commemoration
"There Would be no Fourth of July without the Seventeenth of June"
The significance of Bunker Hill was born out on this past Sunday, quoting Arthur Hurley, Chairman of the Commemoration Committee “There Would be no Fourth of July without the Seventeenth of June”
Charlestown resident were joined by veterans, clergy, civic and political leaders to honor the men who fought and died at Bunker Hill. The French government was there to honor their connection with our Revolution, and yes the British Government sent a representative of the Queen and her government to honor the British dead at Bunker Hill. The Ancient and Honorable Artillery were present, the oldest continuously active military organization in the country. A group of young cadets from Great Britain joined the commemoration, equivalent to the Jr ROTC active in some high schools.
