Anyone who calls Todd English's Olives today will get a different message than they would have as recently as last month; the recorded female voice on the answering machine says that the long-shuttered restaurant staff hopes to open "any day now."
For months, the woman answering the phone had told callers that the restaurant should be open in the . Then, briefly last week, attempts to call the number triggered a message that the number was not in service.
The line has taken on its more optimistic message following a when English told the Boston Licensing Board that his eatery needed just one more inspection before it could open.

The restaurant itself, he said, has been ready—a claim that has been supported by a during a brief period when English's workers took down the brown paper that has been blocking the windows. English added last week that his staff is already trained, and he's eager to start taking money from customers instead of paying it to contractors.
