Police Receive Hundreds of Tips Regarding Remains Found on Deer Island

Officials released a computer-generated image of the girl on Thursday

Hundreds of tips and leads have flowed in from across America after investigators released a computer-generated image of young girl found dead on a Deer Island Beach last week, officials say.

State Police say they’ve gotten more than 23 million views of the image on their Facebook page. Many have passed along leads on social media and others calling in tips, according to spokesman David Procopio.

Some of the leads passed along to police include, Caleigh Harrison, whom police believe fell into the ocean in Rockport three years ago, Aliayah Lunsford, who is missing from West Virginia, and Ayla Reynolds, who is missing from Maine. Police are “fairly” confident none of them are the little girl, but results from forensic testing are needed in order to make such a judgment, officials say.

Officials believe the possible 4-year-old was three and a half feet tall, with brown eyes and brown hair. They don’t believe the child had been left on the beach for all too long when a woman walking her dog discovered the remains in a trash bag on June 25, Suffolk District Attorney Daniel Conley said Thursday.

Upwards of 5 million people viewed the images of the girl, her blanket and leggings on the Massachusetts State Police Facebook page.

Police are encouraging people to look around this holiday weekend to see if a child who had been around their neighborhood is no longer there.
