Postal Threats Lead to Knife Threats, Arrest

Horde of officers respond to scene. No one hurt.

A trio of officers followed a trail of threats against postal workers recently until they met a man who threatened them with a knife.

On Monday, April 23, officers responded to the post office at 23 Austin Street where a manager told them that a local man had ripped the credit card reader off the counter and threw the device through the door.

The man had demanded a pair of packages, the postal employee said, and became irate when a postal employee asked him to produce identification.

Around this time, officers received another report of a man by the same description demanding packages on Tibbets Town Way.

Officers responded, speaking to a man at the home who reported that police were probably looking for his son.

Officers turned the corner to enter the son’s bedroom, and found the son on the couch raising a knife.

“For the safety of the father, we asked him to exit the house and requested additional units to respond for male with a knife.”

The call brought more than five additional officers to the home. They told the man that leaving was not an option.

Eventually, he surrendered the knife. Officers handcuffed him and had him transported to Massachusetts General Hospital.
