Two Men Charged With Drug, Weapon Possession
Officers respond to report of public drug use.

Police arrested an Everett man and a Charlestown man, Saturday, and charged them with drug and weapons offenses after officers responded to a report that the pair was doing drugs in front of 17 Russell Street.
Upon arrival, according to a police report, officers saw the men huddled together outside. The report also said officers smelled a strong chemical odor that they believed to be PCP or angel dust and spotted one of the men holding a rolled paper “commonly used to roll marijuana and angel dust cigarettes.”
One of the men attempted to walk away, according to the report, while the other thrust his hands into his pockets. Officers controlled both men, the report said.

Upon frisking the man with his hands in his pockets, the report said, an officer felt what he believed to be a long-handled knife. The officer removed the knife (logged as a nine-inch silver and brown weapon), the report said, and found it tangled with a clear sandwich bag containing eight zipper bags of a dark dust and herbal substance “believed to be PCP.”
Following that discovery, the report said, the officers handcuffed and arrested both men. In addition to the knife and suspected drugs, officers also found the pair in possession of a cell phone and $294 in cash.
