Two Youths Attack Woman on High Street

Third similar crime in recent history.

A Charlestown woman reported that two youths assaulted and attempted to rob her Wednesday night, but failed to get away with her purse.

In an email to the Charlestown Mothers’ Association (which was later forwarded to Charlestown Patch), the victim said that she was attacked on High Street by two light-skinned black young men around 6:30 p.m. The boys were between 12 and 15, she said. One stood about 5’4” tall while the other was shorter.

She saw the boys approaching down High Street, she said, when they separated and rushed at her. One of the boys, she wrote, covered her mouth to prevent her from screaming while the other attempted to take her purse.

The pair took her to the ground while punching and kicking her, she said, but failed to take her purse. Soon after, she said, a group of women nearby heard the commotion and responded to help.

The boys fled, she said, down Green Street toward Bunker Hill Street.

Both boys, she said, wore dark, hooded sweat suits over white T-shirts. The taller of the two had a slight widow's peak and wore white sneakers.

He also told the shorter one, she said, to “hit her harder” when the boys couldn’t get the purse away from her.

This is the in the past few weeks. In the two previous cases, women leaving the Community College T stop were attacked by a group of two young men and a young woman.

Officers at the Charlestown Police department confirmed that they were investigating the crime.
