The snowbank-jumping trend is alive in the Northeast and much to the chagrin of Boston Mayor Martin Walsh indefinitely-homebound New Englanders are finding ways to push the envelope.
Julius Gloeckner, a former Louisiana State University (LSU) swimmer, decided to secure his goggles strap for a winter version of what swimmers call “early practice.” The Freiburg, Germany native took the literal and figurative dive on Sunday morning in his Boston backyard while his fiancée Emily Weil filmed it.

Gloeckner is the real deal too. His senior year LSU bio, which was released in April 2009, cites him as “the most decorated swimmer in recent program history.”
“The point of this Sunday morning, post-breakfast snow dive is to look at the bright side and the opportunities of every situation,” Weil wrote in the description box accompanying her YouTube video. “Work with what you have. Go outside your comfort zone whenever you have a chance.”
Speaking of comfort zones, the first day of spring is Friday, March 20.
