Wig-Toting, Wallet-Leaving Bank Robber Pleads Guilty
A man who threatened the bank with a fake bomb didn't make it very far when he left his picture ID at the teller's window.

BOSTON - A Boston man accused of armed robbery, who was detained shortly after the incident because he left his ID at the bank teller's counter, pleaded guilty Thursday in U.S. District Court in Boston.
Kenneth E. Denny, 60, pleaded guilty to one count of armed bank robbery in connection with robbing a Citizens Bank in Brighton.
Prosecutors said that on July 24, 2015, a man wearing a gray wig, tan hat, blue sports coat, shirt and tie, handed the banker teller a demand note and placed what appeared to be a bomb on the teller's counter.

The man was given $4,040, but when the bank manager confronted him, the man dropped the bag with the money, took out a cell phone, and said "I am going to blow it up." He then left the bank and was seen heading down Washington Street.
The Boston Police Bomb Squad determined that the bomb was a hoax. Even more of a hoax was the attempt at a clean getaway, as the man left his wallet at the teller's counter. Inside the wallet was the picture ID of Denney.

Officers shortly thereafter located the man and asked for his ID. Denney told police he lost his wallet, according to the release. Bank employees then identified Denny as the robber.
The maximum sentence is 25 years in prison, five years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. U.S. District Court Judge Denise J. Casper scheduled sentencing for Aug. 3, 2016.
