Chelmsford Garden Club Wins National Garden Club Award

The Garden Club participated in a project called "Golden Days."

The Chelmsford Garden Club was very pleased to learn that they were awarded first place in the New England "Senior" division for participating in the National Garden Club's President's project called "Golden Days".

The Club planted 1100 mixed daffodil bulbs at three Senior Residence Centers and the Town Offices.  The chosen locations are especially visible for many seniors to enjoy as they enter their buildings or view from their windows.  The plantings enhance the surroundings and are visible from a public way.  The planting at the Town Offices, which are visited by countless residents, is highly noticeable from a main road.  The club members prepared the soil and added bulb fertilizer before planting the bulbs.  It was a lot of hard work but the club members are extremely proud to participate in this civic project.

On October 12 the Club began planting another 1200 bulbs along the new bike trail in Chelmsford Center and other locations.  The Club is tireless in its efforts to beautify all sections of the town.
