Friday, Sept. 10
Children's party at Barefoot Books. Bring the kids for storytelling and music. A great way to kick off the weekend.

Vox Concordia at 7 p.m. at Concord-Carlisle High School. Interesting people telling interesting stories is how this unique event is billed. It's an evening you won't want to miss. Chris Curtis will talk about chasing tornadoes, for example. Others will tell stories about their life's work. It's free but get there early because the auditorium only holds several hundred people.
Saturday, Sept. 11

Giant parade at 10 a.m. Bigger than the average Patriots Day by far. Miles of floats, horses and white-sashed volunteers including Polly Attwood representing environmental causes.
Music Festival at the Visitors Center on Main Street. Look for Patch's editor Betsy Levinson and ad rep Brian Hemmert.
Get your fancy dress on and head to the Concord Armory for the gala ball at 7:30 p.m. No one under 21 for this bash. Dance til you drop in celebration of this wonderful town that has been around for so long. Joe Saia of the West Concord Wine and Liquor Store is selling commemorative wine for the occasion.
Sept. 12
Go to the Concord Bookshop at 3 p.m. and hear local author Ilie Ruby read from her new novel, "The Language of Trees." Ruby is an artist and author and the book is delightful, magical and thought-provoking.
Wind up your weekend at the high school with music at 5 p.m. and fireworks at 7 p.m. You can thank Reiner Beeuwkes for his in-depth knowledge of all things that go pop.
