Carjacking at Cumberland Farms Tuesday Night

A woman was carjacked at the on the corner of Thoreau Street and Sudbury Road Tuesday night, just before 6:30 p.m.

According to Lt. Thomas Mulcahy, "At about 6:20 p.m. [Tuesday] night, we received a 911 call from a female stating that she had been carjacked and her car had been stolen by another female at the Cumberland Farms."

During the altercation, the suspect, identified by police as Rishelle Whitcomb of Lynn, threatened the victim with a hypodermic needle, though never actually showed one.

"She threatened it, and told the victim if she didn't give her her keys, she'd stick her with a hypodermic needle," Mulcahy said. "A brief struggle ensued between both parties, the suspect stole the vehicle from the woman, and quickly exited the parking lot."

Despite going through the ordeal, Mulcahy said the victim made it out relatively unharmed, sustaining only "a slight scratch to her hand due to the woman ripping the keys from her hand."

The vehicle, a gold Hyundai Elantra, was last seen on Rte. 2 eastbound near Rte. 128 at the Lincoln/Lexington line.

Police are currently working with other agencies to locate the suspect, as they believe she is in another community.

As of yesterday afternoon, police had secured an arrest warrant for Whitcomb. Mulcahy said, "There's no reason to believe she's in the area."
