Concord Among Top 10 Communities in Mass. With Highest Median Income

Boston.com ranks Concord ninth in the commonwealth.

 

Concord has been ranked ninth in the commonwealth among communities with the highest median income.

A report on Boston.com yesterday featured lists of the 20 Massachusetts cities and towns with the highest, and the 20 with the lowest, median income, using statistics from the U.S. Census, University of Massachusetts Donahue Institute and Northeastern University's Center for Labor Market Studies. The rankings are based on 2009 figures.

According to Boston.com, Concord's median income has increased 54.9 percent over the last 30 years, climbing from $101,685 in 1979, to $157,538 in 2009.

Neighboring Carlisle, the town with which Concord shares a regional school district, was ranked third in the Commonwealth. According to the report, Carlisle's median income has increased by 47.2 percent over the last 30 years, going from $115,555 in 1979 to $170,134 in 2009.
