Concord DPW Reports 'Unauthorized Activity' at Town Water Storage Tank

A similar incident occurred on Aug. 1 at a town water tank.

CONCORD, MA— The Town of Concord has reported the second instance of "unauthorized activity" at a town water storage tank in just over a month.

The Department of Public Works announced Sunday that another instance of unauthorized activity had been reported at a water storage tank sometime after 8 a.m. Friday morning. On Aug. 1, the town enacted an outdoor water usage ban after discovering that a lock to an access hatch at a storage tank had been compromised.

Following Sunday's announcement, all outdoor water uses such as lawn watering, filling of swimming pools and washing of vehicles will continue to be prohibited.

According to the DPW announcement, officials are proceeding with an abundance of caution and the storage tank has been physically isolated from the water distribution.

" The tank has had a negligible contribution to the distribution system since a routine inspection that occurred on Friday September 9th," the announcement read."The Town is coordinating closely with local authorities and all appropriate regulatory agencies to ensure public safety is maintained."
