Concord Enacts Outdoor Watering Ban After Discovering Broken Lock on Water Storage Tank Access Hatch

The town has banned all non-essential water usage, including all outdoor water use.

CONCORD, MA — The Town of Concord has enacted an outdoor water usage ban after discovering that a lock to an access hatch was compromised, the town announced Monday.

According to the announcement, the compromised lock was discovered during a routine water check. The town also announced that it is proceeding with an abundance of caution and has isolated the storage tank from the rest of the system as a precautionary measure.

The town also announced that laboratory samples were taken from the tank and test results will be available within 48 hours.

Water supplies will be "significantly limited" until the storage tank is returned to normal service.
