Concord's Social Media Saturday: Reader Highlights

Transportation was definitely the talk of the town this week. There has been a lot of discussion and a lot of debate. Here's a look into that conversation, and some of the other topics that got readers talking recently.
- On Tuesday, CCRSD administration recommended the School Committee consider utilizing as a means of cost savings for the district. Michelle, expressing concern for the employees of the current Transportation Department, said in part, "Everyone deserves to be treated with respect, integrity, and value. Do not let these men and women down. Do right by them and right by those of us you represent!!" to read Michelle's entire comment.
- As a follow up to that piece of news, we ran a poll asking our readers to . Of the nearly 100 votes that were cast, 40 said, "With a $92.5 million high school going up, the district needs to save as much money as they can." Fifty percent of voters said, "I'm sure some resolution can be found that would enable the current Transportation Department to remain in house." Wednesday evening should see a very spirited debate. - Earlier this morning, we ran a letter to the citizens of Concord from the office of Town Manager Christopher Whelan, discussing several points regarding the . Jean H. Hill commented, saying, "There are many factors involved in possible library employee unionization: i.e., salaries, fair internal promotions, health insurance. I have always found the library employees to be extremely helpful at the , which is the one I usually use. I would support them if some of the factors are not properly addressed."
- On Tuesday, Maureen C. Belt rang in the , and Jesse VandenBergh shared a link to her own video celebrating the New Year. And earlier this week, Susan Williams made a note on the listing for next weekend, saying, "The matinee will be out in plenty of time for kickoff on Super Bowl Sunday!"
