Man Charged in Assault and Battery of Woman in West Concord

Concord Police released video footage of the suspect to residents last week.

CONCORD, MA—A man who was wanted for indecent assault and battery of a woman in West Concord has turned himself in.

Concord Police Chief Joseph O'Connor announced Wednesday that Edward P. Fitch, 27, Homeless, surrendered himself at Concord District Court Wednesday morning after police secured a warrant for his arrest. Police released photos and video surveillance and still photos of the suspect on May 25.

“Thank you to all those who provided information to our department," O’Connor said in a statement. “This case is a great of example of how quickly a suspect can be identified when the public and police work together.”

According to police, an indecent assault and battery occurred at a Commonwealth Avenue location at 12:45 p.m. on May 24. Detectives conducted an investigation and were able to identify Fitch as the suspect, and later obtain an arrest warrant.

Fitch was charged with Indecent Assault and Battery on a person 14 or over, disorderly conduct, as well as accost/annoying a person of the opposite sex.
