Police Log: Branch Hits Moving Car; a Possible Chimney Scam; and a Nuisance Tire

The Concord Police Department supplied the following information. It does not indicate a conviction.

 

The following incidents were documented in the Concord Police logs.

Falling Branch
At approximately 9 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8, police received a call from an individual at stating her car was struck by a falling branch while driving on Old Marlboro Road, causing damage to her vehicle's hood and windshield. Police responded to the area but were unable to determine if the downed tree was town property.

Possible Chimney Scam
Just after 10 a.m. on Thursday, police received a call from a Main Street resident reporting suspicious activity involving a chimney sweep from Mashpee. The reporting party said she declined the company's services when they were unable to provide any references. According to the reporting party, a representative from the chimney sweep company called to confirm an appointment for service she never agreed to. The reporting party was instructed to contact police if the chimney sweep arrives.

Nuisance Tire
At approximately 6 p.m. on Thursday, an individual stopped by the police station to report a large tire in the road at the intersection of Walden and Thoreau streets. Police responded and moved the tire off the roadway, and left a message for the Highway Department. Later in the day, police received a call from a Thoreau Street resident stating the tire had been left on her property and she wanted it removed. The reporting party told police she initially contacted the Highway Department, who advised her to call police. Police advised Highway, which reported the tire would be removed.

911 Hang up Calls
At approximately 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, police received multiple 911 hang up calls from the . The operator reported hearing possible screaming in the background during the second call. Two units were dispatched to the club where a function was being held. Police determined the calls were made by kids playing with the phone.
