Sports Week in Review, Sept. 4 - Sept. 10

This week, as summer is quickly fading and fall is ramping up, Concord Patch previewed the high school sports season with a closer look at several Concord-Carlisle High School teams.

On Sunday, we caught up with the defending state champion boys' soccer team. The Patriots, perennial contenders for league and state titles, are gearing up for another run at the playoffs.

The team has four seniors back this year, and is ready to add to the CCHS trophy case.

On Monday, we learned the Patriots' girls' soccer team is a pretty tight-knit bunch. The Patriots captains have all played together since the fourth grade, and have mixed feelings are starting their final campaign together.

A berth in the state tournament would be a nice send off, the Patriots said.

But the soccer team isn't the only close group among the teams.

The CCHS football team enters its second season under coach Mike Robichaud with three senior captains that have all been major contributors in their careers. Peter George, Jibrail Coy and Ryan Ruiz will all play key roles in any success the Patriots enjoy this season.

This year, the golf team is looking to recapture some of its state title glory from two years ago. With nine seniors on the team, the Patriots are plenty motivated to go out on top.
