Adam Sandler's Production Company Wants To Film Scenes In Danvers
The company has applied for a special permit to film in two houses on Ledgewood Drive for an upcoming feature film on Netflix.

DANVERS, MA — Netflix has applied for a special permit with the Danvers Zoning Board of Appeals to film scenes inside two houses on Ledgewood Drive. The scenes are for a film called "Hubie Halloween," which is being produced by Adam Sandler's Happy Madison production company. Sandler has filmed several movies in the region, most notably "Grown Ups" and its sequel, both of which made use of several well-known North Shore locations.
Casting calls for "Hubie Halloween" describe the film as a "good-natured but eccentric community volunteer finds himself at the center of a real murder case on Halloween night." The synopsis of the film on the application to Danvers officials reads "Despite his devotion to his hometown of Salem, Massachusetts (and its legendary Halloween celebration), Hubie Dubois is a figure of mockery for kids and adults alike. But this year, something really is going bump in the night, and it's up to Hubie to save Halloween."

The ZBA has scheduled public hearings on the application for 7 p.m. on June 3. The film is the first to apply under zoning rules that were changed in 2017 to allow filming of movies and television shows in private residences in Danvers with a special permit.
