Danvers Annual Flushing Program Begins Next Week
The five-week program will begin near the Middleton line and move southeast to a conclusion in the Danversport area.
DANVERS, MA — The Danvers Water Division will begin its annual hydrant flushing program next week and make its way across the town over the course of the next month.
The program starts on Monday near the Middleton line and moves in a southeast direction each week before concluding at Danversport in five weeks.
Flushing is planned for each day during a combination of day hours 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and evening hours 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. but may be delayed on cold days so that water does not freeze in the roadway. Certain high-traffic areas will be done from 3 a.m. to 7 a.m. to avoid congestion.

The town is divided into six working zones for flushing with work in each zone expected to last about three days.
Residents may notice discolored water when first used on a flushing day. Those who experience that should run the cold water faucets until the water clears — usually within an hour of flushing completion.
Lasting problems and concerns can be directed to the Water Division at 978-762-0235.
