Danvers Earth Day Electronics, Appliances, Textiles Recycling Weekend

The zero waste recycling days for town residents is set for May 6 and May 7 at Danvers High School.

DANVERS, MA — Danvers residents will be able to clean out the basements of all those old appliances, televisions, computers, electronic equipment, old clothes and boxes of paper during the town's upcoming Earth Day ZeroWaste Recycling Weekend.

The two-day event is set for May 6 and May 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot at Danvers High School.

This Danvers Department of Public Works event is co-sponsored by Simple Recycling, Republic Services (formerly JRM), and BoxQ Electronics Recycling.

Proof of residency will be required upon entry.

Simple Recycling will be on hand to collect clothing, shoes, purses, linens, comforters and household goods either bagged or boxed that are not suitable for donation.

BoxQ Electronics Recycling will collect laptops, keyboards, mice, cables, wires, routers, cell phones, cameras and small appliances for free. Computer monitor recycling is $10, TVs (all sizes) are $30, printers and copiers are $10, stereo equipment is $5 per unit, freon refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners are $25, microwaves are $10 and small appliances are free.

Recycling payment is by check only made payable to BoxQ , Inc.

Stoves, clothes washers, dryers and dehumidifiers can be disposed of with Metalsat at no charge.

Republic Services will shred up to two boxes of paper for free with additional boxes $5 each. That money will be donated to the Danvers Food Pantry. Cash only will be accepted for paper shredding.
