Danvers Goes Purple In Support Of Residents In Recovery

DANVERS, MA — Danvers residents are invited to wear purple and come out for a family-friendly night in support of their children and neighbors dealing with substance addiction and recovery.

The annual DanversCARES even will be May 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the Peabody Institute Library Rotary Pavilion where families are asked to arrive in purple for a walk, illumination ceremony and series of speakers on substance abuse, recovery and prevention.

Walk registration and welcoming remarks at 6:30 are followed by the walk at 7 and speakers and illumination at 7:30.

Parking is available at the town lot adjacent to town hall.

The event is free and open to the public with the first 150 registrants receiving purple T-shirts.

Prevention and treatment information will be provided.

The walk is about 1 mile down Elm Street, High Street and through Danvers Square up the Rail Trail along Hobart Street and back to the library.

Water will be provided with the event taking place rain or shine.
