It’s 1958, and teen-dream rock star Conrad Birdie is drafted by the US Army, bad news for his fans and for his agent Albert Peterson and Albert’s longtime secretary and sometime girlfriend Rosie Alvarez. Albert and Rosie cook up a publicity stunt to sell the star’s new song: have Conrad give “one last kiss” to a lucky fan before he’s sent overseas. The girl chosen is Kim MacAfee of Sweet Apple, Ohio; she’s thrilled, but her new boyfriend, Hugo Peabody, is not. Everyone’s plans start to unravel as the jealousies and romantic complications pile up – will there be a happy ending before it’s time to sing “Bye Bye Birdie”? Come see the show to find out!
The talented cast and crew of more than sixty DHS students looks forward to presenting this Tony Award-winning musical under the direction of Kyla Moulton (Director), Tracie Ewing (Technical Director), and Alex Grover (Music Director). In addition to the fall musical, the DHS ACTS 2016-2017 season will include competition in the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild Drama Festival and a Musical Revue in the spring.
