Danvers High School Academy Theatre Presents "Urinetown"

DHS ACTS presents satirical musical comedy "Urinetown" on November 30 through December 3, 2017

The Danvers High School Academy Theatre (DHS ACTS) presents the satirical musical comedy “Urinetown” on November 30, December 1 and 2 (Thursday through Saturday) at 7:30 PM; and on Sunday, December 3 at 2 PM, at Danvers High School, 60 Cabot Road, Danvers, MA. General admission is $15, and $10 for students and seniors. Buy tickets online at www.ticketstage.com/T/DHS or at the door.

In the not-so-distant future, a terrible water shortage and 20-year drought has led to a government ban on private toilets and a proliferation of paid public toilets, owned and operated by just one firm, the Urine Good Company. If the poor don’t obey strict laws prohibiting free urination, they’ll be sent to the dreaded and mysterious “Urinetown.” After too long under the heel of the malevolent Caldwell B. Cladwell, the poor stage a revolt, led by a brave young hero, fighting for the freedom to pee “wherever you like, whenever you like, for as long as you like, and with whomever you like.” A brilliant satire modeled after the plays of Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht, “Urinetown” is a wickedly funny, fast-paced comedic romp.

The talented cast and crew of nearly 70 DHS students looks forward to presenting this Obie and Tony Award-winning musical under the direction of Kyla Moulton (Director), Tracie Ewing (Technical Director), and Alex Grover (Music Director). In addition to the fall musical, the DHS ACTS 2017-2018 season will include competition in the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild Drama Festival, and another program in the spring.
