Danvers Plans Annual Arbor Day Tree Planting

The Forestry Division will help sponsor the event at Thorpe Elementary School on April 29.

DANVERS, MA — Danvers will host its annual tree-planting ceremony at Thorpe Elementary School to celebrate Earth Day.

The event on April 29 at 10 a.m. will include student representatives and the planting of two Sweetgum trees donated by the Danvers Garden Club and the Corlis Brothers Nursery.

The Danvers Forestry Division, Danvers Garden Club, Corliss Brothers and Thorpe Elementary School are presenting this event.

Arbor Day is celebrated across the nation in all 50 states on the last Friday in April.

"Trees play a critical role in creating a healthier, safer and more beautiful community," the town said. "They help moderate temperature, clean our air, filter our water, produce oxygen needed for all living things and are the key to creating diverse ecosystems worldwide. "
