Danvers Emergency Sinkhole Repair: Detour, Water, Gas Disruptions
The Danvers Department of Public Works said the sinkhole was caused by a 60-inch pipe collapse on Beaver Park Road.
DANVERS, MA — Danvers residents and travelers in the area of Beaver Park Road and Brookside Avenue are looking at about two weeks of detours and water, gas and sewer disruption because of a sinkhole caused by the collapse of a 60-inch metal pipe, according to the Department of Public Works.
The Danvers DPW said the Engineering Department has reached out to N. Granese & Sons to assist in the repair of the corrugated pipe connected on each end by precast concrete headwalls.
"The replacement of the culvert will require disturbances to the existing water, sewer, and gas mains in the Beaver Park Road area," the Danvers DPW said on Thursday. "Temporary shutdowns of the water main to facilitate the installation of a new 60-inch reinforced concrete culvert will be necessary.

The town said on Thursday that there will be noise overnight due to the generators running to keep the existing brook flowing during construction. Work hours for this emergency repair may extend beyond the regular working hours of 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The contractor may work
into the evening hours and through the weekend to complete the repair in a timely manner.
Danvers DPW also said the intersection at Beaver Park Road and Brookside Avenue will be closed starting Monday with detours around the area. Residential traffic will be allowed through Pickering Street and Maple Street.
The estimated time to complete the installation is 14 days.
