DanversCARES Provides Mental Health First Aid Training
8-Hour Certificate Program Offered Over Two Half-Days

If someone has a heart attack, you call 911. But if someone one has a panic attack, do you know what to do? With 1 in 4 Americans having a diagnosable mental illness, you’re more likely to encounter someone having an emotional or mental crisis than someone having a heart attack. Mental Health First Aid training is part of a groundbreaking national education program that helps the public identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. Through the support of a Behavioral Health Services Grant from the Office of the Attorney General, DanversCARES is offering an 8-hour certificate program that will be offered over two half days. The training will be held on Friday, October 2nd and Friday, October 16th from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Peabody Institute Library in Danvers. This community training is free and open to the public. Registration is required by September 30, 2015 by contacting Peg Sallade at Pegsallade@danvers.org or (978) 777-8932 x 2214.
