Therapy Dog Certification Workshop Scheduled Starting Sat. Dec. 1

A Certification Workshop to determine if you and your beloved canine can be successful as a Therapy Dog Team

Does your dog love people and enjoy being patted? Are you interested in building a stronger bond with your beloved canine? Consider sharing the love of your dog with people who can use it most
-- people in hospitals, nursing homes, rehab centers, folks with learning disabilities or anxiety and stress. Explore the truly rewarding world of therapy dogs!

Dog B.O.N.E.S. Therapy Dogs of Massachusetts, in partnership with Perfect Paws Pet Ministry -- the pet-centered outreach ministry from All Saints Episcopal Church of the North Shore -- will be offering a therapy dog certification workshop on three consecutive Saturdays, December 1st, 8th, 15th, with a snow day December 22. The workshop sessions run from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at All Saints North Shore's Parish Hall, located on the corner of Holten and Cherry Street, across from Danvers Town Hall. Ample on street parking is available.

Unlike Service Dogs, that are specially trained to help their person with a physical or psychological disability, including depression, anxiety, and PTSD, Therapy Dogs are not covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act and therefore can be denied access to public places. Their job is to share love and offer patting real estate to help people in all kinds of special circumstances. Therapy Dogs must be invited in, and increasingly, these amazing ambassadors of love are invited everywhere, participating in all manner of activities, including elementary school classroom visits to help children gain confidence in reading, and working with therapeutic professionals in hospitals, clinics, schools and libraries to help people of all ages achieve specific outcomes.
