DEDHAM, MA — Seven people were displaced after a two-alarm fire ravaged through a single-family home on Oakdale Avenue Sunday night into Monday morning, Dedham fire officials said. Chief William Spillane said the fire started on the front porch around 11:30 p.m., before it made its way into the house and spread up to the attic.

The home's seven residents escaped safely before officials arrived, but one firefighter suffered an arm injury while putting out the fire. He was taken to the hospital, but was released this morning, Spillane said. The home sustained damage estimated to be between $250,000 and $300,000.

Spillane said firefighters from Quincy, Boston, Needham, and Westwood helped extinguish the flames, while Norwood, Milton and Newton officials provided station coverage, allowing the department to have the fire out within an hour-and-a-half.
