DEDHAM, MA — A long-planned housing development near Legacy Place marked a new milestone with a ceremonial groundbreaking Thursday.
Vantage will bring 154 rental apartments to 110 Stergis Way, including 131 market-rate units and 23 income-restricted homes. The development will replace two obsolete commercial buildings and is expected to open in spring 2028, according to Nordblom Company.
State Sen. Mike Rush joined state Rep. Paul McMurtry, Massachusetts Housing and Livable Communities Secretary Juana Matias, Dedham representatives and members of the Nordblom family for the groundbreaking.
"It was a great afternoon joining Representative McMurtry, Secretary Matias, the Town of Dedham and the Nordblom Family for the groundbreaking of Vantage Development," Sen. Rush said in a social media post. "A great partnership between the 100-year-old Nordblom Company, the Town and Commonwealth creating more housing opportunities."
The state awarded the project a $3 million Commercial Conversion Tax Credit in August. The program, created through the Affordable Homes Act, supports projects that turn vacant or underused commercial properties into housing, according to the Healey-Driscoll administration.
The development will be within walking distance of the Dedham Corporate Center MBTA Commuter Rail station and the Legacy Place shopping center. Plans include a fitness center, resident work lounge, landscaped courtyard and sky lounge with a kitchen and outdoor terrace, according to Nordblom.
Erland Construction is leading construction, while Stantec is handling architectural and civil design work.
