Consentino noted he started the event in his backyard, but held the festivities at the Dedham Community House last year. At least 60 people attended last year's event.

"There's so much going on for the kids to allow them to have fun all day," Consentino said.

But Consentino emphasized plenty of effort has been involved in getting the event off the ground.

"It's a lot of work," Consentino said, "but every year it's getting a little bit easier."

This year's event will feature prizes ranging from pencils to an iPod, with more prizes to be added in the future.

Consentino said all proceeds will benefit Children's Hospital Boston, and has started a 4C's for Kids Fund, a nonprofit organization, to help the hospital.

He said the event provides a fun experience for families while supporting a great cause.

At least 15 sponsors have shown their support for the event, including Dedham's Dance Explosion, Dedham Parent Time, Papa Gino's, BJ's and . Consentino said he has spent the past few months trying to raise money for the event.

"Our long-term goal is for the event to be free for everyone in Dedham," Consentino said.

Consentino said he hopes to double the funds from last year's Fun for Kids Day, and would like to raise $4,000 with the third annual event.
