Dedham High School Cutting Athletic Fees in Half
Athletic fees, including the family caps, are going down.

DEDHAM, MA — As other school district face increasing athletics fees, Dedham High School is actually seeing a decrease.
Athletics Director Stephen Traister told the school committee this week that fees will be cut in half next year. The fees, currently at $125 a sport with a $500 family cap, will be decreased to $75 a sport with a $250 family cap.
"We feel real good about that. Our fees were already benchmarking low and will probably be among the lowest for schools in the Tri-Valley League that charge a fee," Traister said.

During his presentation to the committee, Traister also noted that the school will begin Tri-Valley League play in the fall. The school, which was the smallest in the Bay State Conference, will now compete against schools of similar size.
"This is not going to equate to Tri-Valley League championships immediately but we’re going to be able to compete against schools of the same size," Traister said.

Rival school Norwood, another Bay State Conference school, could join Dedham in the league in the near future. They are exploring a possible move, but that wouldn't happen until the 2018-19 school year at the earliest.
So far, the Bay State Conference has not found a replacement school for Dedham.
