Dedham Rec Wrestling Earns Dominating Win

The teamed received victories from 17 of 21 wrestlers.

On Tuesday, January 3, the Dedham Wrestling Bulldogs had an outstanding night of wrestling at . The Bulldogs won 17 out of 21 matches against the Dover-Sherborn MS team, with the majority of the victories coming from our fifth graders.

We have a good combination of new and experienced youth wrestlers from Dedham, Newton, Medfield, Walpole, Needham and Milton this year.

This year’s Captains are Jason Sulinski and Matt Dunn. 

Winnning for Dedham were: Anthony Amaru 1-0, Peter Bannon 1-0, William Chu 1-0, Steven Mammone 1-0, Robert Raine 1-0, Brandon Reyes 1-0, Tommy Walsh 1-1, Seth Israel 1-0, Alec MacLean 1-0, Kevin Rusco 1-0, Robert Shaughnessy 1-0 , Dean Snida 1-0, Matthew Sulinski 1-0, Ford Donahue 1-1, Timothy Duchini 1-1, Colin Keally 1-0, and Dane Matejka  1-0

Dedham Recreation Coaches, Jim Maher, Frank Fitzgerald, Steven Maher, George Chu, Tom Walsh, Jan Smida and Mike Maher have added greatly to the success of the team and donate their time and effort to help run the two youth programs with 70 wrestlers (grades K-4 grade: 40 wrestlers and grades 5-8: 31 wrestlers)

A number of our former Dedham Recreation Wrestlers have moved onto the Dedham varsity team with Declan Heaslip at 126, Liam Feeney at 145, Stevie Heaslip at 160, Andrew Maher at 170, Mason Costa at 182 and David Jenkins at 220. Plus others at Xaverian, Milton High School, Noble and Greenough and St. Sebastian's.

The team next travels Saturday to Wayland High School to scrimmage with Wayland, Sudbury, Hopkinton, Dover and West Roxbury youth teams.
