Dedham's DeLouchrey Shuts Out Braintree
Dedham baseball shuts out powerhouse Wamps 4-0 behind three-hitter by Chris DeLouchrey
When Dedham takes on a quality opponent they often turn to reliever Chris DeLouchrey at some point in the game for help. Monday was a little different as DeLouchrey was called upon to go all nine in the Marauders 4-0 win over a very talented Braintree team Monday afternoon at Memorial Field.
DeLouchrey went the distance, scattering three hits and striking out six Wamps en route to his first career win as a starter.
"He threw a lot of strikes and he challenged kids," said coach Kevin Quaranto, "which is what we’ve been asking him to do."

Dedham's Domingo Rodriguez led the offense for the Marauders (7-5, 4-4) as he went 3-for-4 at the plate and scored the first Marauders run in the bottom of the first on a 6-4-3 double play, which proved to be the winning run for Dedham.
The rest was left up to DeLouchrey who retired the side in order against the 7-4 Wamps, in the first, fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

"It was my first start and I came out a little nervous," said the modest DeLouchrey, "then I started to get in a groove, and I calmed down and had my defense working for me."
Dedham was fortunate to score in the fifth when Jason Riley led off with a bleeder down the first base line that the Braintree pitcher couldn’t handle. After a sacrifice by Cam Clifford to move Riley over to second with one out, senior Dan O’Connor answered with a single to right that allowed Riley to score from third on an errant throw to the plate to make it 2-0.
The Marauders added two more runs in the fifth when Brian Coakly and Riley added RBI singles to score both Kevin Boudrow and Mike Ryan to seemingly put the game out of reach.
DeLouchrey's only trouble came in the seventh when Braintree lead off with a single by Joe Zanca, but a perfectly executed 6-4-3 double play erased Zanca, and DeLouchrey registerd his sixth strikeout to end the inning after allowing a triple to Braintree’s Kevin O’Halloran.
"He is a great kid," said Quaranto of DeLouchrey. "He works hard everyday, and he took advantage of his opportunity."
The Marauders take to the diamond again Tuesday afternoon and will take on the aggressive Wellesley Raiders who are on pace to steal 100 bases this year.
"We are going to mix it up tomorrow, Pat Maloney is going to get the start," said Quaranto. Maloney pitched very well last week in relief against Natick.
"We are going to do the best we can," added Quaranto.
