"He is a pretty upstanding member of the school community and he is involved in athletics and school," Reilley said. "He has a genuine interest in his academic future."

While visiting Boston, London and Paris, the students will be given a series of challenges they must work together to solve - all the while learning about each city and taking in the sights.

NETC was hunting for a person that could have a future in leadership roles - whether at a college, public service or the working world, Reilley said.

"You want someone that is responsible that is going to be able to handle a trip like this," she said. "I've been impressed with him."

Dello Iacono has participated in peer leadership, gone to Boys State, went to a Neponset Valley leadership program and has intered for state Rep. Paul McMurtry.

Students will leave just after July 4 for the 10-day trip.

"Obviously me and my family were very excited," Dello Iacono said.
