Erika May – better known as EMay – has been called the “Renaissance Queen of the Pittsburgh Scene”. Awarded a Pittsburgh Creativity Project award through the STUDIO and Heinz Endowments in 2009 for her “contributions to Pittsburgh’s cultural landscape” both on stage and behind the scenes, EMay has been called “one of the most multi -talented artists you will ever come across.” (grassrootsy.com) She has performed on all the major stages in Pittsburgh, been an integral part of budding artistic organizations, and assisted in the operation and production of large-scale events.
Born in raised outside of Boston, MA, Erika moved back to her mother’s hometown of Pittsburgh in 2001 and quickly fell in love with the landscapes, the nature of the locals, the enthusiastic originality and fearless grassroots nature of the arts communities. She graduated with a BFA in Fine Art from Carnegie Mellon University in 2005 and “seems determined to apply her creativity to every available surface.” (Pittsburgh City Paper)
